Electrolychee & Marcushiro’s Endless Pursuit

I just remembered this Electrolychee photo I took from Versus Manila 2 because of Marcushiro (left, beside he/art partner Bru) who’s having his third solo show at Pablo Gallery, Cubao X from October 15 to November 5. Notice their outfits that totally matched their work that night. What’s cooler–his FYI message:

there’s no formal opening for the show. just swing by starting saturday. proceeds will go to the typhoon victims of Ondoy. no food, no drinks means more money saved for them.

You guys know what to do.

Mei Day

From the still rocking stage covering Heima, I moved to Pablo Gallery, hanging vintage vinyl jackets that night. Clicked a few with flash outside, where girls were dancing high and drinking like crazy. This tatooed chick, I found out from PH Tumblette Regina, is Mei Bastes. They were singing “Ang Pusa Mo” with Pedicab on stage before I arrived at Cubao X. Style Anywhere says she’s a stylist who owns The Junkie Shop. I could see that.

Mikki

So I took a shot of this blasted old man and turned to the right: Mikki, who I rode with from the Versus Exhibit but lost in the crowd was back from nowhere. I took a compli shot, of course, but it was too damn dark. That was a wide-anglish distance, I thought, so I tried to save the pic on Lightroom blasting the fill light, exposure, and brightness–a severe combo of these three. And I got this grainy result. I like how it fades over his flannel checks. Isn’t he caricaturish, cornrows and all? He’s my neighbour too.

Blast

I was actually trying to get a good shot of  Taken by Cars killing it at the stage fronting Sputnik, then this old man suddenly leaned on my legs trying to balance themselves on the cemented pot for greens. I looked down, amused than annoyed at this smashed old fart possibly working at the area (see his ID lace), and took the shot. It was only at home that I noticed: the guy in front of him had “BLAST” printed at the back of his shirt.
