Fresh Start

Stalks of lemon grass which my mom used for pinangat--stewed coconut meat and freshwater prawns wrapped in gabi leaves.

Newly-hatched native chickens which we keep incubated with a light bulb in a box. These three are survivors after a cat attacked the rest of the brood during the night.

Kagata--a Bicol imperative meaning "Bite!"--what we named this German Shepherd puppy we're keeping as new pet at home. True enough, she's quite fond of biting even us, but she does it lightly and, I hope, with affection.

happy new year nan!
@ohmski I hope you’re having a fresh start too.
Haha. I love the name. Get another dog and name him/her Dasmagi! :p
@Peachy I think my mom’s keen on getting a Yorkshire Terrier at the moment, but that’s highly probable if they decide to get another guard dog instead.
are you from bicol?
“kagata na”, i ponder, is a better word for”bite!”. “na” is for the “!”
or maybe its in other part of bicol. terms/words vary in every place in bicol.
